About the Role
Matraville Smash Repairs is seeking an experienced and motivated Automotive Spray Painter to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, refinishing, and painting vehicles to manufacturer and industry standards while maintaining a strong focus on quality, efficiency, and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare vehicle panels and components for painting by sanding, masking, priming, and cleaning surfaces.

Mix and match paint colours using manufacturer specifications and colour-matching systems.

Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats using spray-painting equipment.

Blend paint finishes to achieve a seamless colour match.

Inspect completed work to ensure a high-quality finish and rectify any defects where necessary.

Maintain spray booths, spray guns, and other painting equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.

Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures, including the safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials.

Work collaboratively with panel beaters, estimators, and other workshop staff to ensure vehicles are completed within required timeframes.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.

Meet productivity and quality targets while delivering excellent workmanship.
Skills and Experience

Trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing Technology or equivalent.

Previous experience as an Automotive Spray Painter in a collision repair or automotive refinishing workshop.

Excellent colour-matching and paint application skills.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Good communication and time management skills.

Current Australian driver's licence (preferred).

Proficiency in the use of the latest spray painting equipment and techniques and previous experience using the DUXONE system.
