Key Responsibilities

Abrasive blast steel structures, trailers, machiney, equipment & fabricated components.

Inspect surfaces & determine the required preperation & coating process.

Grind, sand, clean, wash & prepare surfaces for painting.

Remove rust, scale, grease, old paint & other surface contaminants.

Mask & protect areas that are not being painted.

Mix paints, primers, lacquers, protective coatings & rustproofing products according to specifications.

Load paints & coatings into industrial spray painting equipment.

Connect hoses & adjust spray guns, nozzles & air pressure.

Apply primers, top coats & protective industrial coatings evenly & to the required thickness.

Operate spray booths, extraction systems, drying fans & associated equipment.

Monitor coating application, drying & curing processes.

Check completed work for coverage, finish, defects & compliance with job specifications.

Measure coating thickness & complete quality-control records where required.

Clean & maintain spray guns, nozzles, hoses, blasting equipment & paint containers.

Safely handle, store & dispose of paints, solvents, blasting media & hazardous materials.

Follow workplace health, safety & enviroment procedures.

Wear & maintain appropriate respiratory protection & PPE.

Complete job cards & other required workplace documentation.

Maintain a clean organised & safe work area. 

Qualifications 

Applicants must have relevant industrial spray-painting & abrasive-blasting experience minimum of 3 years.

The successful applicant must have:

A strong commitment to workplace health & safety.

Attention to detail & pride in workmanship.

The ability to work independantly & as a part of a team.

Experience painting heavy machinery, earthmoving equipment, trailers & fabricated steel products is highly regarded.

Panel beating, welding, fabrication or vehicle-body repair experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
