Melbourne Polytechnic’s Advanced Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (AMCoE) serves as a prime example of industry collaboration. Amidst Victoria's $30 billion manufacturing sector, which supports over 23,000 businesses and 260,000 employees, ranking among the state’s top employers. This sector, is contributing 30% of the nation’s manufacturing output, is set for further substantial growth in the next decade.
The collaboration, originating in the early 2000s, addresses challenges faced by Melbourne’s northern manufacturing sector due to global, national, and local economic shifts. With the industry rapidly adopting advanced manufacturing concepts like Industry 4.0 and IoT, there is a pressing need for skilled personnel. Recognising this, Melbourne Polytechnic is revamping apprenticeship training methods and equipment to align with emerging manufacturing trends, emphasising the transition from traditional trades to CNC operations and product automation.
About the Role:
Coordinate the daily operations for the programs to ensure that classes run efficiently compliance requirements are met.
- Provide coordination, training and facilitation across a range programs and qualifications and related areas, to training clients.
- Contribute to the planning, development and review of programs offered by the area.
- Ensure all aspects of program development, delivery and record management meet compliance
requirements.
Duties:
Teaching:
Develop, maintain and evaluate student learning programs, projects and associated materials.
Assessment:
Conduct required pre-training assessment reviews and assessment requirements connected to contract delivery for the program/s.
Industry Engagement:
Participate in the marketing and promotion of the courses by liaise with industry contacts, networks and learning communities.
Quality and Compliance:
Assist in the development and maintenance of quality assurance processes in relation to program and course administration, design, delivery assessment and evaluation of training materials.
Vocational and Industry Currency:
Identify, create and participate in professional development relevant to teaching and the maintenance of vocational currency.

Skills and Experience Required:
- Vocational experience and current competence within the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering industry.
- Relevant experience in CNC machine operations, maintenance, and coolant management. Proficiency with CNC milling machines like MiniMill and VF2, as well as CNC turning machines such as TL2 and ST20Y (encompassing 2-axis, Y-axis, and live tooling), is required. Familiarity with machine language (G & M codes) and generic Fanuc systems, along with the ability to download, upload, and edit CNC programs, is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate expertise in 3D & 2D CAD software programs, CAM software programs, and the application of both modern and traditional toolpaths.
- A Degree, Diploma or Certificate relevant in both content and academic level and industry experience relevant to the department.
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40110) including Design and Develop Assessment Tools (TAEASS502) and Address Adult language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills (TAELLN411) or (TAELLN401A) or the TAE40122
- Current Working with Children Check (Employee) – mandatory.
- Valid National Police Check – mandatory.
