Mechanic position available for a motivated individual who has a passion for diagnostics and mechanical work.

  • Medium sized family business with a strong focus on reputation and customer service
  • Rewarding work with opportunities to advance your skillset
  • Opportunity to work as part of a team, while still having a degree of autonomy when necessary

About Us:

United Fuel Injection and Turbo Charger Sales & Service have been an industry leading workshop for over 45 years. As our name suggests we specialise in diesel fuel injection and turbo chargers, encompassing our light automotive, heavy diesel, turbocharger and performance departments. We pride ourselves on our customer service and our drive to ensure we maintain long lasting relationships with customers.

Our Light Automotive workshop is unique in that we are one of the only workshops in the state who exclusively specializes in diesel fuel injection across all makes and models of light automotive vehicles. We pride ourselves in the wealth of knowledge that we have across our team of staff members, knowledge that spans multiple decades, meaning that most issues we have either seen or have had some experience with before.

About the role:

We are looking for an experienced mechanic to join our Light Automotive workshop. We are looking for someone with experience in diagnostics, diesel engines or someone who is skilled in the general mechanical field with the ambition and drive to learn and upskill their diesel fuel injection knowledge. This role requires a large amount of initial diagnostic work, which then moves onto the removing and replacing of the offending component. Due to our in-house turbocharger department, fuel injection pump room and performance department, most repairs are done on site with very little outsourcing.

Day to day tasks include:

  • Test driving vehicles before, after, and sometimes during repairs
  • In depth diagnosis of diesel injection system
  • Liaising with service advisor
  • Remove and replace components
  • Occasional general logbook servicing
  • Occasional general mechanical work on areas other than the fuel injection system
  • Occasional vehicle modification
  • Using the dyno to help with diagnostics
  • Using our various scan tools to help with diagnostics

About you:

You will probably describe yourself as someone who takes pride in their ability to problem solve with a strong commitment to high quality work. You prefer to work at your own pace, taking time to think things through and understand why the issue has happened, rather than a rushed “wing it” approach. You will enjoy working with a team and are happy to bounce ideas off others to help problem solve but do enjoy the independence and control of completing your own tasks. You pay close attention to detail, while being able to think laterally when an issue arises. You prefer to be in an environment where the task at hand is what’s important, free from drama or office politics.

What can we provide:

We offer a stable long-term position with the ability to upskill. We are a member of multiple motoring associations, all of which provide regular training nights / courses. We highly encourage our staff to take interest in these courses and training seminars, bettering your knowledge, and helping you learn new skills is something we are very passionate about.

We will provide on the job training, showing you how to use the various scan tools we keep, as well as the 2 four-wheel drive dynamometers we have.

Having an inhouse pump room also puts us in a unique position, allowing us to show you on an in-depth level how the fuel injection pump and injector works, both in the rebuilding and testing areas. This extra insight will help you with understanding how the entire system operates and why specific issues arise.

What you must have to apply for this role:

  • Experience with in depth vehicle diagnosis
  • Current drivers license (C class minimum, manual essential)
  • Experience in an automotive workshop
  • Good understanding of mechanical principals
  • Experience using scan tools
  • Experience with diesel fuel injection – would be advantageous but not mandatory
  • High drive to learn and master new skills
  • Stable transport to and from work

If this sounds like the job you would be interested in, we would love to get you through for an interview.

Please email through your resume and cover letter telling us a little about yourself and why you would be suited for this role.
