We are looking for a solutions-focused mechanic to join our team at Drop Bear Adventures in the heart of Noosa's industrial estate. Our business delivers award-winning guided adventure tours and accommodation on K'gari (Fraser Island). Founded by Mark and Hana some 15 years ago, you would be joining us to continue in leading the tourism industry on K'gari.
We are a small, genuine, hard-working and fun-loving team of adventure and life enthusiasts who love what we do. Our fleet of 4WDs are an essential component in keeping our tours running smoothly therefore we are looking for the right person who wants to join us in striving for continual improvement by taking control of the workshop.
We have a great workshop in Noosa that is fully kitted out and has two hoists. You'll be working closely with our Logistics, Office and General Manager to help us provide the most amazing 4WD adventure to the island for our adventurous guests by repairing, servicing and maintaining our vehicles to a high standard.
About the Role
Your responsibilities include:

Maintaining and repairing the fleet and completing the maintenance schedule for each vehicle

Working with our Logistics Manager to treat and repair rust

Ordering parts as needed for repairs, tools and recovery equipment

Planning servicing around tour operations to minimise downtime

Working closely with the founders, guides and island operations team to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are followed

Being a tidy and responsible Drop Bear by keeping your workspace organised, safe and efficient
Key Skills and Qualities

Qualified or highly experienced Light Vehicle or Diesel Mechanic

A love of Toyotas and a gift for keeping them on the road

An open mind about the Mahindras — they'll surprise you

Ability to plan, prioritise and work methodically

Comfortable running a workshop and performing diagnostics

A good communicator — you'll need to be, or be willing to grow into, giving feedback and guiding the team on how best to look after our fleet

Reliable and flexible

Manual licence required; ideally HR, or willing to obtain
4WD driving and recovery experience is a bonus (but not essential), as you may need to travel to K'gari for on-site vehicle repairs and recovery occasionally.

A Typical Week
This role is designed to support work/life balance: approximately 34-38 hours per week, with flexible start and finish times to suit you and the workshop's needs. We'll work out a roster together that gives you two days off a week.

Weekend and public holiday work paid at Award penalty rates. Travel to K’gari for on-site vehicle servicing, which is covered by the business, and additional hours are paid at standard rates.
